The Great Migration and Zanzibar Escape

The Great Migration in Tanzania
This year-round spectacle is incredible to witness no matter where you are but we argue that experiencing the calving season on the Ndutu Plains of Tanzania’s Serengeti is quite possibly the most impressive — and certainly makes you feel as if you’re in a National Geographic documentary!
Make it a Bush and Beach Combo
Zanzibar is an island both mysterious and magical and, for us, one of the best spots to kick back after a fantastic safari in East Africa. It’s easy to combine with mainland tours and offers fun for adventurers and beach goers alike — from the streets of Stonetown to the colorful Indian Ocean reefs!

IMPACT: African People and Wildlife

We commend and support the incredible work of African People and Wildlife who protect wildlife, invest in people, and restore balance to Africa’s vital ecosystems.

Their mission is to work to conserve iconic species, like elephants and lions, uplift the communities that live alongside them, and preserve the landscapes they all share. Through them, we support sustainability projects in rural communities that preserve healthy human-wildlife interactions and contribute to better livelihoods for those that live in proximity to animals.

DID YOU KNOW?
  • The Great Migration is a year-round event where an estimated one million wildebeest, 200,000 thousand zebras, and large herds of gazelles follow rains and fresh grazing through the Serengeti National Parks of Tanzania and Kenya.
  • Timing is quite literally up to nature but this map provides a general overview of annual movements.
  • River crossings are the primary attraction in Kenya during the months of June - September while Tanzania draws nature lovers for calving season often referred to as the ‘start of the migration’ in January - March, and the rest of the year for the thundering herds.
  • Serengeti is Massai for endless plains and it is truly a natural wonder to be added to every bucket list!

A Note From Our Guests

"Africa is more than we ever dreamed. Your planning was extensive and thorough, down to the last detail. Our local guides were extremely knowledgeable and pleasant to be with. And the execution was unbelievable–despite moves to multiple locations, some quite rural, everything came together without a hitch. Our accommodations and food were first class, even while camping out in the Serengeti. We can’t thank you more for such a thoughtful introduction to this amazing continent.”
